बच्ची के इलाज के लिए 5-6 लाख रुपए की आवश्यकता थी, जो कि एक सिक्योरिटी गार्ड की नौकरी करने वाले पिता के लिए जुटाना असंभव था। पीजीआई चंडीगढ़ के चिकित्सकों ने पहले गर्दन की समस्या के लिए उपचार शुरू किया था, लेकिन जब पता चला कि विदाता के दिल में छेद है, तो उन्होंने तुरंत हार्ट सर्जरी की सलाह दी।

इस समस्या के बारे में जब पत्रकार संजय कंवर को जानकारी मिली, तो उन्होंने समाजसेवी योगिता गोयल के माध्यम से रोटरी क्लब चंडीगढ़ के डायरेक्टर गुरविंदर सिंह से संपर्क किया। गुरविंदर सिंह ने रोटरी हार्ट लाइन सर्जरी प्रोजेक्ट के तहत बच्ची की सर्जरी का खर्च उठाने का आश्वासन दिया। इसके बाद, बच्ची को चंडीगढ़ बुलाया गया और फोर्टिस अस्पताल मोहाली में उसका इलाज शुरू हुआ।

फोर्टिस अस्पताल के वरिष्ठ चिकित्सक डॉक्टर टी. एस. महंत की टीम ने 21 अगस्त को साढ़े पांच घंटे तक चली सर्जरी में सफलतापूर्वक विदाता का दिल का ऑपरेशन किया। इस ऑपरेशन के बाद बच्ची की हालत स्थिर है और उसके परिजनों ने पत्रकार संजय कंवर, गुरविंदर सिंह, और रोटरी क्लब के सभी सदस्यों का तहे दिल से आभार व्यक्त किया है।

इस घटना ने यह साबित कर दिया है कि जब इंसानियत और सेवा का जज्बा हो, तो कोई भी समस्या असंभव नहीं होती। विदाता का सफल ऑपरेशन इसके सबसे बड़े उदाहरणों में से एक है।
