In the Kung Fu Series, the artist plays with the regalia of the Chinese warrior as a visual motif. Yet at the heart of these paintings is a wariness, or preparation for self defense. The figures stand guarded, ready for a fight. The threat is always beyond the frame of the painting the viewer
