जिला सिरमौर के पांवटा साहिब में स्थित इंदिरा गांधी राष्ट्रीय मुक्त विश्वविद्यालय (इग्नू) अध्ययन केंद्र 1133, राजकीय महाविद्यालय में 21 जुलाई 2024 को नए शैक्षिक सत्र जनवरी 2024 के शिक्षार्थियों के लिए एक ऑनलाइन परिचय सभा का आयोजन किया गया। इस सभा में लगभग 40 शिक्षार्थियों ने भाग लिया। कार्यक्रम के मुख्य वक्ता सह समन्वयक डॉ. उप जोशी जी रहे।
डॉ. जोशी ने अपने संबोधन में नए शिक्षार्थियों का स्वागत करते हुए इग्नू में प्रवेश लेने के लिए उन्हें बधाई और शुभकामनाएं दीं। उन्होंने इग्नू की स्थापना और इसके विकास के बारे में जानकारी दी। उन्होंने बताया कि इग्नू की स्थापना भारतीय संसद अधिनियम द्वारा सितंबर 1985 में की गई थी और इसका संचालन 1987 में केवल दो शैक्षिक कार्यक्रमों से हुआ था। आज, इग्नू में 338 अध्ययन कार्यक्रमों में लगभग 35-40 लाख विद्यार्थी शिक्षा ग्रहण कर रहे हैं।
उन्होंने शिक्षार्थियों को इग्नू की मूल्यांकन पद्धति से भी अवगत करवाया। इग्नू दोविस्तरीय मूल्यांकन प्रणाली का प्रयोग करता है, जिसमें पहली श्रेणी कार्यों की जांच और दूसरी स्नातक परीक्षा शामिल है। ये परीक्षाएं साल में दो बार, जून और दिसंबर में आयोजित की जाती हैं और दोनों ही परीक्षाओं के लिए उपस्थिति अनिवार्य है।
